Notes on Cole

Okay, maybe this is what I’ll start doing:  separate posts for improvements.

(testing out the “Read More” thing)

I totally fucked up the light source.  The energy thing is supposed to be behind both legs.

In theory, Cole’s supposed to really be winding up with his right arm, but I fucked up the foreshortening.  I think I half-assed the wind-up; I probably should have gone all out, tucking the right elbow closer to the body so you can barely see the upper arm.

The energy thing (Shock Grenade?  Or whatever name we made up in i2?) isn’t hot enough.  I should have gone with a tighter brighter center.  Maybe by giving it a tight, high-saturation ring near the focus?  With some outward motion using the Smudge tool?  Or maybe I should have gone with more of a swirl effect?  Unclear.  Maybe I should ask Matt :p.

The swipe lines are confusing and a lot of the electricity looks a little too fuzzy.

I half-assed the tats but I think they actually turned out okay.

The extra blue on the light pole in the background is stupid.  It’s only on one edge and, since most of the visible area is directly facing the light source, it should be more lit.

Ugh, the fly.  I totally forgot to redraw that after I did a quick temp one.

The hair’s a little too chocolate-y in color.  Probably should have lowered the saturation on that.

The amp prongs are a little too meaty.  Should’ve thinned them out more.

That’s it for now, but I’m still pretty happy with it.

Practice, practice, practice.
